Beyerdynamic DT-990-Pro-250 Professional Acoustically Open Headphones for Monitoring and Studio Applications Review
Unless, you get additional gear to update the output on your ipod/iphone it actually doesn’t do justice to these headphones. Have about a dozen pairs of headphones and these are one of my favs due to the fact that of the fantastic output and plus they’re incredibly comfortable for long sessions.
These are definitely great. If you are brand-new to high-end audio like me, do not let the fact that you require an AMP/ DAC scare you. After doing hours of research, I decided to go with the Schiit (yes, that’s the name) Fulla. While this amp isn’t really offered on Amazon (and now sold out online till late January), it still goes to show you how popular and in demand this amp is. In general, these were a little bit of an experiment for me, and I will never ever return to Bose. While the knowing curve is a bit high to learn about amps/ DAC, etc, it is more than worth it.
I got my Beyer DT-990 Pro design almost 3 weeks earlier and I spent simply an over an hour combing through my preferred albums and music to see exactly what these children can do. I understand that I’m publishing the review in the premium design page, but it uses just as well since the differences are mainly physical and the old design will soon be unavailable for purchase. It also gives people a bit more insight into the sound that Beyerdynamic can provide, considering that there are few reviews for this earphone compared to the more popular Senheisser, Audio Technica and Grado.
Sound is terrific with a V shape and the comfort is exceptional, which I can wear throughout the day. The quality is exactly what you would expect from a respected German company, AMAZING! I’ve used it with my smsl dac/amp while playing anywhere from 320kbs to 24bit FLAC and video gaming.and all sounds terrific. My gf can hear everything but I do not care! I’ve not regretted this purchase one bit and will buy once again from Beyerdynamic. Sound stage was incredibly large with the DT990s whereas with the Yamaha Pro 500s, it was very narrow. The characteristic broader sound signature of BeyerDynamic 990 series headphones were present throughout in the mid variety. Human ear cannot handle anything below 20hz 20khz, the 5hz-35khz frequency variety is obvious as this headphone beautifully distinguishes between sounds of extremely varied frequencies.
I have actually also heard the Denon D-5000 and these have a slightly forward midrange, a much deeper tone and a lower frequency. The bass is still strong and they sound much better to me. They are likewise more than twice the cost. If you desire something closer to prefection, then I would recommend these. If not, then these are actually nice. They are incredibly comfy and can be worn for hours. They are strong. Another thing I noticed when listening is the treble sounds unbelievably high, even with the EQ changes. Almost ear piercing high. I’ve heard the term bright used by other customers when explaining the treble. And the bass, I simply want more. Like i said, they can deal with whatever is tossed at them. I’m currently spoiled with these, hehe. I advise the 990’s to anyone who enjoys music and wants it to come alive! I understand they are pricey.
The Mercedes-Benz of headphones. Still, I like its bonafide German-made quality. And, unlike Sennheiser, Beyer does NOT jeopardize on general quality at this rate range. It needs to be said that my speakers are Martin Logan eaons, so I like spacious and open sound. I initially attempted my macintosh preamp and they sounded really nice but it wasn’t the sound I was looking for. It sounded much better but didn’t have that kick I was looking for.
These headphones have incredible sound. I am currently playing a game where sound is running utilizing the smart sound engine and the developers have actually not polished the sound at all and it still sounds excellent. I upgraded from the senheisser 558 headphones and paired with the sound blaster z sound card, you can identify steps really well. The open back enables your ears to “breathe” as in the air can travel through them so well that your ears don’t get hot and sweaty. The sound quality is as excellent as the very first day I bought them. The velour pads are interchangeable and I usually switch the pads out every 6 months approximately to keep the feel of them clean and fresh, I imagine they can get pretty grungy after a long time from absorbing grease from your hair and skin, so it is a good idea to change the pads from time to time.
Beyerdynamic’s design with these is best. They’re neither obnoxious nor dull, but preserve a good balance of tidy design. Pertaining to audio quality, they make music come alive. Sound is well balanced: extremely clean, strong bass reaction, but not overdriven. Wonderful pair of headphones. When paired up with a good amplifier, they really shine. everything about it is tidy crisp and clear the bass is not subduing at all and the midrange is great 250 ohms. The sweet area in my viewpoint. One of the most comfortable headsets I’ve ever put on my head. the velour ear cups are excellent and the head padding is wonderful also, the aluminum earcup braces are extremely stout and total building and construction is superb. If you’re trying to find the excellent headset, these are the ones.
They sound excellent and have a good “open/airy” feel to them. Bass is strong but not overly stressed. Total sound is relatively flat. Very comfortable on the ears and head and at moderate volume, you experience little ear fatigue after hours of listening. Really natural sounding. For the rate, these certainly cannot be beat in my viewpoint. If you want to hear your music the way its supposed to sound, offer these a shot. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
The sound is gorgeous. Sound appears well balanced, so I do not miss out on bass amplification alternative. Just issue is that my partner wants to hear my music and I desire to selfishly hear the better sound in my phones! These headphones are truly remarkable. I think they are probably the very best set of headphones I’ve ever put on my head. Everything I pay attention to with these is clear and crisp. Nothing is overpowering in these headphones like exactly what a set of Beats might be where they are bass heavy and everything else is mudded out. With these, everything is even and clear. They come with a coiled cable television which does not trouble me, but if it does you, then I would recommend looking in other places. Another great thing to point out about these is that they are made in Germany!!!
At the exact same time, more outside sound was being let in and more sound was leaking out. The sound quality is unmatched compared with anything else I’ve utilized in this category. Beware however, if you’re choosing this by someone’s suggestion for just listening, the other versions are simply as great … but different openness.
To be sincere the only reason I did was of three things: level of comfort, sweaty ears after long term usage, and no way to hear the outdoors world. With the DT-990-Pros I was astonished at how comfy they are, and no matter how loud the source was; I might still hear sounds from outside plainly. The 2nd pair (which was delivered in an open box as well) does not have any technical concerns that I’ve observed and I hope it remains that way. Other than these small problems I still believe these Headphones are worthy of 4 stars due to the fact that they do have the very best quality, look and feel than all the other headphones i’ve owned. I’ve constantly had issues with headphones providing me massive headaches after long usage but these have actually never ever triggered any stress.
The sound clarity is unreal. When i view motion pictures, it’s like having surround sound. When i play games I can hear individuals from every angle when playing fps. When i play mobas, I can hear individuals in the fog of war perfectly clear. Music has never ever been better. Also the business offers replacement parts for almost every piece. So no need to even replace the headphones.
It likewise gives individuals a little bit more understanding into the sound that Beyerdynamic can provide given that there are few reviews for this headphone compared to the more popular Senheisser, Audio Technica and Grado. Human ear can not manage to anything below 20hz and above 20khz, the 5hz-35khz frequency variety is obvious as this earphone is beautifully able to differentiate between sounds of exceptionally diverse frequencies. I first attempted my macintosh preamp and they sounded truly nice but it wasn’t the sound I was looking for. I am presently playing a video game where sound is running using the wise sound engine and the developers have actually not polished the sound at all and it still sounds great.
